Menotryoudude, the reason why religion has been so destructive has been because of idealism, not religion it self.

I would encourage you to read about Idealism and understand how religion can be so destructive because of it.

See religion is created by distinct beliefs, but these beliefs without a foundation of reality for them to stand upon can lead to Idealism, which like non-religious entities such as Fanaticism can lead to destruction and death.
