IBM unveiled details of an advanced computing system that will be able to compete with humans on Jeopardy!, Americas favorite quiz show. Additionally, officials from Jeopardy! announced plans to produce a human vs. machine competition on the renowned show.

For nearly two years IBM scientists have been working on a highly advanced Question Answering (QA) system, codenamed "Watson." The scientists believe that the computing system will be able to understand complex questions and answer with enough precision and speed to compete on Jeopardy!

  • @GSZ64AA Sure, but a robot couldn't possibly live without us, we only give it brainpower. We don't give it a human body to walk around with. I think making ultra intelligent computers is the only answer for us, let us colonize the universe. Religions and shit has retarded us though, we could've already been up there lol.

  • @AlanShore4god However, Watson runs SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. Windows does not run on Power7, the architecture Watson is based on.

  • This may be funny, however it was IBM that designed the Hollerith machine (first computer) to assist the Nazis in the totallisation of the european Jewry for the industrialized genocide of 11 million Jews in WW2.
