  • @gambinotoo A carillon has 23 or more bells, whereas a chime has fewer bells. Typically a carillon is played while sitting.

    At Cornell at least, the performers are referred to as chimesmasters.

  • @LCHIEN52 actually? They are Carillonneurs! And they perform on a Carillon. :-)

  • Interesting Cornell / Ithaca fact: Carl Sagan and team (and the Beatles), wanted to include the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" on the legendary Golden Record placed on board both Voyager space probes. Apple Corp. rejected the idea, for reasons that one can only shake one's head at.

  • chimes-ster? I think they call them Chimes Masters for good reason.
