buy the cd.

You can put -core on the end of anything and make it into a genre. Like Christcore, Queercore, Cooking Pancakescore, and don't forget Doing your homeworkcore.

@pumga saetia is an entirely different band. they defined the math rocky tinkly sound of screamo that stays in vogue with bands like ctts, etc... definitely genre-defining in a lot of subtle ways.

@pumga I like when people refer to My Chemical Romance and Hawthorne Heights' as emo and label the whole genre to be such. Luckily for me I'm from Chicago, literally from the home of emo and get to see the Kinsella family as often as I want. Ain't nothing like the midwest when it comes to emo.

my $2c - definitely their best record. both challenging and highly listenable. although their old stuff was good too, they really boiled their sound on this record. high quality songwriting and consistency. they mastered the sound, toured the uk and quit. hot cross was more or less influenced by the screamo genre but not limited to. just like the best artists in any genre. similar records i like of this period are kidcrash - jokes and loma prieta - last city.

Saetia was better. Hot Cross were cool. However, Saetia helped to define screamo.

@RazorGene i wouldnt say that makes them better. sure, their stuff is really good and important for the genre, but i think hot cross is more refined. there arent many records that can keep up with cryonics :D
