One must remember what the founding fathers of the United States of America were going through. On the great seal exists two great symbols, both of which associate with great sight. The eagle often associates with the eagle eye, for when it flies high in the sky it must be able to see the curvature of the horizon. The eye on the pyramid, could be any number of things. The Ancient Egyptians had many deities associated with the eye (Ra, Horus, Osiris, Isis) and even more associated with Atens (star, sun). They seem to be saying, If only you had an eye in the sky, you would know that the earth is not flat and the earth is not the center. Was Europe blind? At least, Holy Rome? Was the great seal here to give Europe credit, or someone else? Ancient Egypt was, of course, left out of the equation because of the pyramid clearly signifying an association. After all it was them who symbolized the sun and stars as centers. Did they know something Europe did not? Did the early Europeans discount Egyptian knowledge because they did not believe them?

Believe me this is only one obvious point of a giant "Why is United States symbolism so mystically more secular than religion (monotheistic versions at least)?" Honoring Greek and Egyptian (and others) ideals and symbols? Why is United States naming conventions from presidents, to cities, to roads and streets so non-religious barring a select usually less significant few? How much of the government symbolism (statues, buildings, etc) religious? Who built this place? I mean, I think the puritans were very traditional, why don't we see it in the foundation?
