This video goes over the "Basic" hoof mapping protocol used by the E.L.P.O. for evaluating hoof distortions, hoof ratios and foot balance. This process can be used by farriers, trimmers, horse owners and veterinarians for determining how the foot is functioning and if future lameness issues may be a concern.

  • Are you sure your sposed to be CUTTING the frog

  • What kind of knife are you using here in the beginning as your defining the apex of the frog?

  • Thank you for making this video. I have always been interested in the anatomy of horses feet. I miss watching the Natural Balance Hoofcare Corner every week on Dennis Reis. It was my favorite part of the show. I just bought a walker who arrived yesterday. He has such underrun heels and long toes that he can't stand properly and although his gait is smooth as silk I know he can't be having fun. I called the farrier but I know it will take time to fix him up. This video will help.
