Australia has been such a strong and selfless ally of the US that I find it embarrassing that the congress is not going out if it's way to assist the RAAF in any way they request. Some components of the F22 could be stricken from an export version. And by export I mean Australia for sure and probably nobody else.
australian politicians just wanted to modernize their air force. but they also should realize that the u.s. spent billions of dollars developing the f-22. plus there are some vital state secret technologies embedded in the aircraft. it's their right (the u.s.) if they sell it or not. and besides, australia hadn't even contributed a single penny in the development of the aircraft. so no other foreign country has the right to bicker about the u.s not wanting to sell their prized possession.
I still don't see the logic behind the sales ban when Russia is pushing forward with a similar project that they would sell to literally any shmuck that wanted one. Anyway, the F-22 does not fill the role Australia needs. I don't see why they didn't go for a new F-15 Strike Eagle.

china has the j-20, which is a direct copy of the f-22.
so if australia get the f-35, the j-20 will be superior to anything australia has since the j-20 is a copy of the f-22.
and everyone knows the f-22 is vastly superior to the f-35

More like the F-35 will never perform the desired mission roles adequately.

It should be mentioned that Australia doesn't actually want the F-22.
