In some traditional contexts, women have no embedded rights to inherit land from their deceased husbands. And despite modern society frowning upon the practice, many communities in Kenya still practice it as a way of life. The Luo are known to be proud of their culture, and have been one of the communities at the forefront of this tradition. But there is a wind of change. In Sondu, Nyakach district some of the disinherited women can now return home after arbitration from the elders which allowed them back to their homesteads.
