  • alachasia? interesting - i take this is a type of dysphagia?

i thought i had dys but i could have dys of ala variety. this was helpful.

due to have manometry soon to check the UES - i have the sensation of solids and pills sticking the area described here so it could be then the valve is over-active.

  • @jearks - it sounds like he could be aspirating on thin liquids. A delayed swallow can be the possible cause of this. Consult a doctor and get an SLP referral for a bedside swallow exam and possibly mbss

  • i am a private nurse and I have a post-stroke patient. he can actually eat but the problem is on swallowing especially when he drinks water. He can swallow solid foods especially when chewed properly, but when he drinks water, he tends to cough and appears like choking. What's the possible cause of this problem and what are the remedies to minimize the problem?Thank you.
