Sometime next year, U.S. Marines and soldiers will begin deployments to Afghanistan aimed at meeting President Obama's call for an additional 30,000 troops in that embattled nation. Some are likely to deploy from Fort Hood, in central Texas, the largest domestic U.S. Army base. VOA's Greg Flakus reports.
God bless our troops where ever they are. Hope they make a safe homecoming to their loved ones.

@EarlyMorningMovies Hey just curious? If you request a deployment. What determines if they will send you or not?

I'm a 19 yr. old college girl who wants to be a higher education teacher.
My unit has deployed 3x in the past to Afghanistan since the war began, and is still deploying volunteers. I recently volunteered for Haiti.
I am willing to go because I see it as my duty. I will do ANYTHING to make my family & country feel safer.
Anything to feel I am doing my part for a country that has given me everything.
My father was not born in America.
We are set to deploy in 2011.
Hooah.

You poor soldiers, when will you realize. The politicians themselfs will not send there own flesh and blood to these wars, but you yourself risk your life and give it away for people that wouldnt send there own children to war.
Why do you go to war? If your own politicians would not send there own to war?
Dont you see its a trick? I still amend you for your bravery, but at the same time you need to stand up and realize your kids lives are more important than making america rich.
