A film by George Wain, we now believe wasn't shot in the Gee Cross area of Hyde, but on Hulme Road, Denton (Manchester) in the 1930s.
Check out Chinese Interlude The Location.

  • I doubt this is Hulme Road, I live on Hulme road and the houses weren't built until the 1950's, on my side anyway...

  • Check out my related video, Chinese Interlude,

    The Location.

  • I think it could be the road that the Apethorn pub is on. See the bus travel past 2min in? I think that is going up Dowson Road.

Anyway, these videos are great. I'm looking forward to showing them my dad and Grandad. Is Mr Wain a relative of yours?

  • The location has now been positively identified as Hulme Road Denton, please see the latest upload.

  • Just watched it and it's right, my house is one of the newer ones though... That hasn't even been built yet.

  • This is Dane Bank.

  • Whoops. Forgot to say the thing I replied for in the first place. When you have a sec, could you possibly give us a brief explanation of the Advertiser article? I would be very grateful. Thanks again.

P.s. My Grandad is coming round for the match today, so I will be showing him your (George's) vids.

  • ... The third link down in google is a Tameside message board where someone is asking for information about Mr Wain. The message board is long gone but if you click "cached" which is just under the link, it will bring it up. There you will see the message with an email address (from something Horrocks). I just thought you might like to get in touch with him/her and offer some of your knowledge.

  • Unfortunately last weeks is long gone. I tried the Advertiser website but can't find anything with a search for "George Wain". I did find though, searching google for "George wain tameside" there is a lot of stuff about him that you may be interested in, mostly your videos but some other stuff... [cont below]

  • Previous weeks Advertiser.

  • OK. I just had a look through this weeks Advertiser (13/12) but I don't see anything related to Mr Wier. Could you please be more specific and possible give me a page number, or tell me exactly what I am looking for. I will keep hold of the paper for now. Cheers.
