  • Marion is hitting those amazing notes, the vocal equivalent of a swinging guitar. It's killing how she takes breaths between notes thereby making it sound as if she's hitting a keyboard or a fretboard, not merely using her throat. This Lucy Smith composition became a big hit in the white gospel field, as did several other Ward classics. But that was the early 1950s, apartheid America. So the Wards never traveled to the Grand Ole Opry.

  • Thank you appetancy for filling in the blanks and letting us know that this is Marion Williams hitting high notes. lol. Thank you for the comment.

  • Did they ever sing there?

  • This is wonderful. I was playing this on my organ today. Thank you for the post

  • Well now, they say great minds think alike. Cause I know i can't read minds. lol. Glad you enjoying this song.

  • Sang Waddy! Let him use you!!!

  • I believe that is Mrs. Willa hitting them high notes. I think. lol. If it is, she is doing this some wonderful and beautiful justice.

  • @PurpleSnowman29 You may also be interested to know that this song was written & composed by Lucy Smith Collier, known as "Little Lucy Smith, of The Roberta Martin Singers. She also wrote "What a Blessing in Jesus," & both songs are still being sung today .. most recently record by Bill Gaithers. She went home to be with our Lord recently, Sept. 19, 2010.
