Not morally equivalent. The Soviets were perceived as threat the CIA supported the Muhajadeen. That is not Al-Qaeda. Private citizens, Irish Americans supported the IRA. That is not the state. The US helped broker peace between Britain & the IRA. The US doesn't give Hamas money. They arm & train Fatah security forces. Iran has been one of the leading state sponsors of terrorism for years. Israel isn't occupying Palestine either. No Jews in Gaza, Palestine isn't even regarded as a full state.
