@danagan You are a complete moron and are part of the reason these cameras are needed. Your ignorance is almost unbearable. They take pictures of fools like you who roll around corners running pedestrians over because if you don’t stop and check to ensure everything is safe to proceed. Believe or not it’s because of people just like you, these cameras should always be used. I just feel sorry for the people you happen to live around, careless thinking hurts and kills people.

A lot of "Red Light Cameras" are set up so to start taking photos if your are going so fast at a set point. Some one has done some math and said at point X if the car is going Y MPH the camera needs to start taking the photos.
Most of the camera systems used when they do start taking photos with take one be for you get to the line. One when you are at the line and then one as you go thru the intersection. But not all town use the same systems and not all systems work in the same way.
