James Kalm drops in for this, the seventh one-man exhibition with ZWIRNER, of Los Angeles based artist Raymond Pettibon. As a prolific producer of manic combinations of text and pictures, Pettibon has influences a generation of young artists world wide. His personal tales, diaristic notations and over the top political commentary are at once humorous, ironic and pathetic. These rugged and urgent works give witness to a childhood spent delving into the seamier side of West coast life with a special focus on Hollywood sleaze and the dark side of the California Dream.
