is a production team making projects of performing arts including contemporary dance and modern drama. The members of Freewill Stage are university students in China. Though these students do not have any training background for dance and choreography, they experiment enthusiastically on the dialogue between idea and body movement, trying hard to integrate different art forms into their works. Freewill Stage members undertake the whole production from concept to choreography, composition of music, design of the set, costumes and publicity material. Their works reflex the feelings and views of the early 1980's generation in urban China.
From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., this is a time segment in which the white-collars run back and forth for their regular life. Inside this time segment, they drag their feet from one box to another. These box-like space and sites take up most of their hours in a day. City ParaBox sets its focus on the people inside the boxes, sketching out their activities and feelings. Can people find a true paradise in these boxes? Or does such boxed life harbor a paradox in deep? Freewill Stage use body movements to express their ideas upon these two questions.
