Sweet Land Trailer

Sweet Land is an American independent film directed and written by Ali Selim. Set in 1920s rural Minnesota, it stars Elizabeth Reaser, Tim Guinee, Lois Smith, Ned Beatty, John Heard, Alex Kingston and Alan Cumming. It is based on Will Weaver's 1989 short story "A Gravestone Made of Wheat."

It is indeed a profoundly sad, yet beautiful & moving love story. If by chance you're a Midwesterner of Scandinavian or German descent, you'll be moved to tears again & again. My wife & I were weeping at the end. This is a beautiful movie.

I believe this is director Ali's first feature length film. He did a magificent job. Truly a masterpiece visually and with a great story an characters.

I look forward to see what else he comes up with.

I have a slight feeling that what she said in the beginning of the film was supposed to be a mixture of German and Norwegian.. But I can't hear the norwegian in her accent...

This is an excellent move. I recommend it to anyone but especially those with concerns about immigration and building up an inclusive society. It's also a very sweet love story.
