I am Afghan, and I can understand Iranians perfectly.
I think Afghans are more exposed to Iranian Farsi, b/c of Afghan refugees in Iran, and b/c of Iranian movies and music, so thats why we understand Iranian Farsi,
If Iranians were more exposed to the Afghan dialect...you will be able to understand us too.
Trust me, the Afghan and Iranian dialects have the same vocabulary..but different accents. If you give it time....you will be able to understand Dari :)
