A demonstration has been held in protest at the BBCs decision not to broadcast an appeal for aid to the people of Gaza. The Disasters Emergency Committee - an umbrella organisation for several major aid charities - launched the appeal to raise funds for people in need of food, shelter and medicines as a result of Israels military action in the Gaza Strip.

The veteran Labour politician Tony Benn criticised the BBC for their decision.

"We are human beings we are people. If you saw children dying as they are today in Gaza because theres no food, wouldnt you want to send it?"

"Mark Thompson, has recently returned from Jerusalem, where he held a face-to-face meeting with the hardine Prime Minister Ariel Sharon... Thompson, who took office in 2004, intends to build bridges with the countrys political class... He's a Catholic, but his wife is Jewish, and he has a far greater regard for the Israeli cause than some of his predecessors."

  • If those dead children can say something now,

What do you think they would say?

Personally, I believe they would just stare at their dead body with a wondering question in their eyes says (why we are not a live)

    Can you imagine that?

They just dont know, why they are dead,

Because they are just children, children for god sake,

    Why Israel killed them? >>>

  • tony ur champ

  • After hearing Mr.Benn's comments and his neutral and logical stance, his respect has raised a lot infront of our eyes. Not only BBC, but other western channels are also advocating the Israeli cause regardless of the fact, that there is serious humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Innocent people like women and children are dying who have nothing to do with the military movements. Not to broadcast the appeal has greatly devalued the BBC among its veiwers.

  • THANKYOU TONYYYYYYYY....

  • god bless you tony benn

  • Tony benn is a legend!!!! Why aren't there more people like him? If there were there would be no humanitarian crisis in Gaza...

  • The woman is not a fat cow pal. She is doing what she is told to do. She is being professional. She isn't in favour of the decision not to run the appeal. She is playing devil's advocate. It is her job. Listen to what Benn himself says about the people in the BBC. He knows the rank and file are against the management decision.

  • She is only doing her job....if you listen to Benn he says that he's been in the BBC all morning and he knows that none of the workers there are against running the appeal. She is doing what she must, not what she wants. Don't shoot the messenger. It is the Governors of the BBC (many of them Jews) who are behind this.

  • hitler killed the wrong jews.

  • this lying fat cow makes me puke :(
