Time-lapse movies of the growth of travertine (calcium carbonate) terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park, together with computer simulations of the physics of the growth process. The movie was created by John Veysey II and Nigel Goldenfeld from stills taken by interpretative National Park Service ranger Brian Suderman over a period of about a year.
