I have been bele dancing since the 80's and have have 5 home births utilizing the movements.
So many traditional birthing rituals of 1st world women have be lost to commercialism, reduced to being viewed only as a dance entertainment, and the desires of men.
It is good to see the younger generation carrying on the tradition of such a sacred ritual. :)

Hi Maha, Ann-Marie here. For those that don't know I am a belly dancer and danced all the way through my pregnancy and used figure eights and circular movements through my labour which helped with the pain. My baby turned out beautiful and she now loves hearing belly dance music.

this is really interesting! I knew some parts of the history of belly dance, but this does make sense now when you put it all together. they dont tell you in online articles about the hip movements and how they're related to birthing, they just say they're related. thank you for helping me clear this up! :D and i'll have to remember my belly dance moves for when i have my children.

it sounds ogical but for the most part i think the teacher is approaching the matter from a psychological point of view. She talks in a very sophisticated and philosophized manner and that's even makes us think of more sense of the video!!!
