Ive been in close distance of a black bear they dont bother you if you dont bother them.

oh and btw black bears don't frigin eat people .. we are not food to them they eat salmon and berries, Black bears are chicken shits who just want to be left alone. If you were to run screaming at a black bear it would run like a bat out of hell from you.

its called a bluff attack .. its a defense mechanism ... a bear would only chase you if you ran from it or if you messed with it's cubs.

@Umberto2 I didn't say anything about which one attack more people. You said that. Your chances of surviving a black bear attack are less then a grizzly attack. When black bears attack you its because they want to eat you.

@wrldeye12 Your probably right but I remember reading somewhere that when a black bear actually does attack a human it will most likely result in death. However, in many grizzly attacks the person isn't killed but rather mauled and left once the grizzly realizes you aren't a threat. Of course I have no real experience to speak from...so you probably know.

I can't believe how many stupid people are out there! You never get out of your car to look at a bear that close! He may SEEM like he doesn't notice you, but believe me, h knows you're there. I've even seen people try to put their kids out there to get a picture!! Black bears are even more predacious than grizzly bears by far. But NO bear is safe to be close to. They are wild animals, very strong, very fast, & very unpredictable. USE YOUR BRAINS, PEOPLE!!!
