The first in a little series I'm putting together for fun, looking at awesome stuff. This first video takes a look at Dynamite Headdy on Sega Megadrive/Genesis, from a kinda aesthetic standpoint. I hope you enjoy :)

  • only adults like yourself pick up on these unusual things kids jus accept them much like the colour. on the note of why, many game developers often feel something about their work which invites deeper expression this is because theme is suitable to change as the "medium" can change and has little need to be constant due to the many paths a game can take... more to say but got to move on

  • Definitely, I agree with you. I think kids notice these things but not in such a conscious way. It's only when we've grown up a little we can compare and contrast the media we see around us and explain why it is we like it.

I'd love to hear more about your ideas on this subject, it's interesting to discuss :)

  • no worries dude nice to see a brit reviewing some MEGADRIVE games :) any plans to do any more ?

  • I plan to review all kinds of things, but there should be another Megadrive one in the near future :)

  • Great video, a game you may also like is Rocket: Robot On Wheels, very, very creative game and one of the best i ever played

  • Thanks for the comment, I'll be sure to give it a go! ;)

  • I really enjoyed your review and approach so i'm featuring this video on my 'Retro Mondays' post on my site hbettany.co.uk , all the best!

  • Great review! This game looks so freaky! I must try it

  • Good stuff.

  • I don't really like DH that much because the levels and platforming are annoying, too much enemies on the screen and this game doesn't have continues. if you lose all your lives you're fucked and have to start from square one. Gunstar Heroes was made by treasure and it had unlimited continues.

  • good review, im surprised this doesnt have more views

  • Great job dude,

Sorry you didn't understand Backstage Battle. But in the Original version (where there is text and a story), Maruyama/Trouble Bruin actually pulls Headdy backstage, rather than a setting. He quote says "Bwahahahahaa! What a pathetic hero, having your tale end backstage like this where no-one can see you! Time for Dynamite Maruyama to make his star appearance!"

  • great review dude! keep it up.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only person who had their brain scrambled by this game. It actually haunts my dreams all because I can't differentiate reality and fiction in this game. I know its just a game, but it did my head in over the long term.

Oh, and Trouble Bruin is a bear.
