A description of Thomas Kuhn's concept of the paradigm shift, as described in his 1962 book "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions". No expense was spared in the making of this video.

    that is not quiet right.

A paradigm shift occurs when a new disciplin envolves wich investigates the parts wich didnt fit the old paradigm. This new disciplin uses the old definitions and methods of the old paradigm to explain these krisis making anomalies and it will become a new paradigm wich can explain all the old elements and the anomalies wich are now normalies. Thats the way i got it. Greetings form Germany Sportwissenschaften Leipzig 2010!

I'm not certain what you mean by "the old definitions and methods". Medical science certainly moved on from humours and bloodletting, and to use Kuhn's most common example, Copernicus certainly abandoned Aristotle's solid celestial spheres. The new paradigm replaces the old one according to Kuhn, rather than absorbing it.

Huh, thank you for this. It's a very interesting theory: brings together vague ideas I've had about things, but never formed into my own solid "idea" or thought process.

We are surrounded by invisible aliens 24/7. When mankind finally learns this it will be the single greatest paradigm shift in the entire history and existence of mankind. There are isolated people who are currently mocked by the majority of academia but who have had genuine encounters. 99.99% of the claims are bogus but there is always the 0.01% who are for real. Most people are afraid of their reputation being ruined if they talk about what they saw and experience. Our best, mistaken as madmen.

Thank you, this taught me more in 4 minutes than my philosophy of science class taught me in over 20 hours of lectures :)

haha nice try with the hammer. i guess some paradigms - or should i say people following the paradigm - are so resistant to change.
