This video is my first attempt at putting my home videos onto you tube through a VHS-DVD-r-Computer-Youtube procedure.
This is video I shot in late Augest 2006 onboard Alton and Southern GP38-2 #2001. The crew was friendly to allow me on board, however I have long forgotten their names. Along with sister 2000, the units switch out the lumber yard in Mitchel, IL. The two GP38-'2s are the only road switchers on this roads roster.
The road crossing in the video is Chain of Rocks Road and was at one time part of Historic US Route 66.
Thanks for posting this. I just got an HO version of the 2001 today, But my layout is set in Maryland so I plan on making a small shelf layout to run it on.

Sounds like a Leslie made horn. Not all GP38's have the Airchime K3L that the CPR 38's have.

That's a funny horn for a GP38-2, they sure don't sound like that on CPR

nice, I like it. Brings you right into the railroading action. And those horns are sure louder in person
