In our Borders-exclusive interview, David Benioff talks about City of Thieves, his winsome novel about the absurdity of war, the wonder of life, and a wedding cake that's a recipe for disaster.
I read this book about a week ago and can't get it out of my head. Apart from the fact that Kolya reminds me so much of someone I know, it's impossible not to fall in love with this character. Indeed all the characters are so well written it feels as though as they get to know each other, you get to know them just as convincingly. It's like nothing I would normally read - just a happy accident in the bookshop drew me to it, and I think I'll be forever happy it did.
Randomly purchased this read and devoured it within' the ensuing hours. Will re-read:) simply great and masterful. If a movie is made I wouldhopeit to be 4 hrs long.
