I like the classic openings, including the incipience of the "Hold on to Love" theme but then I was reminded what precipitated the beginning of the end. It's awfully sad.

yes very sad and embittering, totally agree. It makes sense that as the show went down the drain so the great opening got shredded in favor of that horrible postmodern neon light disco thing.

To me that last opening wasn't nearly as bad, to me, as the opening of the show that had the music that was supposedly known as 'Pure Light' (that was the one from February 2003 to November 2005 -- although that could be when the show really suffered it's most dramatic breakdown as far as storyline content. I also think that the December 1981 to July 1983 disco opening really failed miserably in capturing how great the show was during that time period (or at least for most of that time).

Beautiful! Loved all the titles/openings,
and all those photographs! You ended it with their last title and that was fitting -- I think most viewers hated it, but I thought it had a very beautiful feel to it especially when most shows don't even "do" a descent opening anymore. I hate it when a show loses it way as GL did for the last several years and it was sad for me to watch it go...
