Finally! Someone that knows how to make a REAL Old Fashioned. Thank you Howdini & Rachel. Some acceptable variations are to use a teaspoon of bar syrup rather than a sugar cube. W/ Rye: lemon zest. But w/ Bourbon I think the zest of an orange is a nice compliment. I disagree about using just a bit of ice. In fact, the more ice you use, the less it waters the cocktail. The more ice there is, the colder the glass, & less ice melts. A few ice cubes melt faster, leaving the drink watered. Peace!

Actually, the Sazerac is the original cocktail. Both are fantastic.

(also, she forgot the orange zest and you don't have to use club soda. That's optional)
