  • I've watched this video many times, and it's great! I have one question, though. My dog is extremely reactive when it comes to squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, basically anything that scurries across the ground. I am doing a lot of attention work with her, but compared to the other distractions I've trained with, it's just too much. Do you have any suggestions on how to work up to the critter distraction?

  • @dsostringbean Check out "Control Unleashed" by Leslie McDevitt. She tells you how to put the bird or squirrel chaing on cue (of course only done where the dog has no chance of catching one) and so you can use it as a reward, instead of a distraction. Donna

  • Great video! I love your attention to detail shaping behaviors, especially in the calmly laying down segment. Thumbs up!

  • @tab289 Thanks. I got the mat calming ideas from "Control Unleashed!" by Leslie McDevitt
