  • flip turns won't improve a triathletes swim because you can't flip on a turn buoy and breathing to just one side is detrimental to open water swimmers because you either catch a wave with every breath or a foot in the face ;)

your technique is far better than mine already so I can't offer any new insight.

  • Try to get your arm vertical earlier in your catch. When your hand hits the water flex your wrist. That will help you catch the water with both your hand and your forearm. Also, try breathing on both sides to even your stroke out. Only bring your head out of the water enough on your breathes so that the water line is on your nose. Half of the mouth in, half of it out.

  • Breathing on one side the whole time, every time.

  • flip turns and less breathing

  • have you tried flip turns?
