Teaser New Pic of Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin in Batman 3

In response to speculation that Philip Seymour Hoffman was approached for the role of the Penguin, as a British arms dealer in The Dark Knight, franchise director Christopher Nolan said he considered the character difficult to portray on film, explaining, "I'd be more excited to have Philip Seymour Hoffman in the film than to have the Penguin. There are certain characters that are easier to mesh with the more real take on Batman we're doing. The Penguin would be tricky."[1] Prior to the release of The Dark Knight in 2008, screenwriter David S. Goyer ruled out using the Penguin or Catwoman as a villain in a future film, preferring to use antagonists from the comic that had not yet been portrayed on the big screen

Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hoffman are in the running for the next Batman installment, "The Dark Night" actor Michael Caine told MTV News.

"Theyve already got them in mind, Caine, who plays Bruce Waynes loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, said when asked who hed like to see take up arms against the Caped Crusader. Its Johnny Depp as The Riddler. And The Penguin is Philip Seymour Hoffman. I read it in the paper.

The Caine interview was conducted at the Toronto Film Festival where Caine was promoting the film "Is There Anybody There."

Caine said he confirmed the casting through the studio itself.

I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, Are we going to make another one? They said yeah. I said, How the hell are we going to top Heath [the late "Dark Knight" star Ledger]?' And he says Ill tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin. I said, St, theyve done it again! Caine told MTV News

I would love to see a realistic pengion mob boss in the 3rd movie. Maybe he could take over when Maroni and Gamble left off in dark knight.

Normally when it comes to movies I'm like - CRAP, I'm really not sure about this considering how many companies bollocks characters up. But Nolan has proven himself at Batman time and time again, and whatever he comes up with goes as far as I'm concerned. He doesn't pick rubbish actors. I didn't like the new Rachel admittedly, she didn't look anything like old Rachel and was cheap and annoying but then that was a once occurance so I'm not particularly worried. As long as Penguin is classic xx

neways we have tom hardy to play as some villain in the next film dunno who he's gonaa play as.rumors say that he's gonna play killer croc or even bane.
