Decided to try Blender's smoke.

After a couple of renders in LuxRender (which at first seemed like it was a bit more challenging), I decided to render in Internal, because I was on another machine (my gf's). Needless to say, I freaked out.

Took my project home, started messing around with the settings, cheated a bit, then finally got it.

This is the end product.
Smoke sim #3.

  • if there is no bong, then its not a real smoke test! :p

  • @GuyChan3

Yeah, well, I'm not supposed to have flagged videos, so I had to leave the bong out... kids might learn, you know? (contact me if you need any) (I mean, bongs) (any bong simulations, I mean)

  • frumos, astept sa-mi cumpar alt calculator si o sa ma reapuc si eu de blender, ca prea l-am lasat :)

  • @kangdanlin

Investeste intr-un procesor si multa memorie!

  • Nice now make the Harry Potter effect of a person appearing and/or flying about with their body becoming smoke.

  • @agent47crows neah..un calculator nou imi trebuie mie...nu-mi permite placa de baza prea multe :(

  • @MartianStories

    Anytime.

Well, if I were you, I'd really think about investing in CPU and RAM.

On a sidenote, a CUDA/OpenCL capable video-card is good to have as well, for GPU rendering.

  • @eoghanar

    Thanks!

  • Looks good! Nicely done : )

  • @agent47crows Very cool. Thanks for the great response. I messed with Lux a little bit a few weeks ago, but couldn't really figure it out. I saw one of your Lux renders and thought it was pretty impressive. But it seems complicated. Yafaray seems fairly more straightforward, comparatively, but I did have a weird memory issue last night, and had to reboot the computer.

I've never upgraded my card, I just have what came stock in my quad. So I guess I'm pretty stuck with Yafaray till I invest...
