Last Nighttime Shuttle Launch ~Endeavor STS 130 Launch February 8, 2010 4:14am
Due to low cloud ceiling, Sunday's morning launch was scrubbed with 9 minutes to go.....for a while we were a bit worried that we were going to have the same problem Monday morning. The clouds broke enough to comply with the NASA's requirements. Monday's morning launch of the Endeavor was truly spectacular....illuminating the clouds and sky magnificently as the last shuttle to be launched during hours of darkness headed on it's 14 day mission, with it's astronauts and cargo towards the International Space Station. It was one of the most beautiful sites that I have ever witnessed, and the feeling of wonderment was as abundant as it was when I witnessed the first launch on television so many years ago. WOW ~ I was there !!!
The last 3 1/2 minutes of the video is just for the sake of capturing the audio until the shuttle reached the point of negative return.....although, I do feel sorry for the guy who at the end declares that he missed the launch ~ people tried to make sure that anyone who had fallen asleep around them had awakened......the poor guy got overlooked in the final moments of everyone trying to get themselves awake and their gear ready !!
The view is from Space View Park in Titusville, Florida and the video was taken with my Kodak EasyShare Camera.
It was amazing, Jackie....I wish that Tony could have been there with me !!!
I was fortunate to have a really nice person, David, strike up conversation....it helped the time pass more quickly and keep my mind off of the freezing cold weather......it was in the low 30's out ~ brrrrrrr !!
