@DJustice91 He isn't against it. He just doesn't need to. I am sure he lived in a remote area where he just played all the time in Australia.I mean if you can do math in your head do you think it's worth the time to write it all out and go through all the steps just to get the same answer. Sorta like music. If you want to play "For" other people then yes reading music is necessary. If you are making your own then that all comes from feeling and ear. He isn't discouraging it. He doesn't need it.

@Saendar - Yes, I know what the situation was, and I've seen his road manager nearly take the heads off of people form doing less.........and that's WHO should have handled this situation instead of punishing the masses(his entire audience) for the actions of one person. If he's going to change the mood of the entire audience by yelling, he might as well have jumped off the stage and beat the guy to a pulp, both interrupt the show equally.

@Saendar - DUH!!!!!!!! And my point is I've never seen any of his mentors do ANY of that. I've met the man, he's congenial, graceful, funny etc. Yes he's probably the worlds best acoustic player in his genre. But I'm also offended as a fan when I hear him say certain things or act certain ways. We all have opinions, that's mine, like it or not.

@collinsamps And the yelling vid is because the guy was a cameraman and he took a call in the middle of the show and was speaking loudly for some time. It was completely rude and what you don't see is that people in the audience tend to be the most affected by such acts. If you saw your audience getting annoyed, you'd do the same. I understand your stance, I'm just showing you an insider perspective :)

@collinsamps You have to remember that the people who get the tab books made are doing it for the fans - his comments about tab are in response to how he himself learns to play. Not everyone can do it all by ear, but you can't deny that the masters are the ones who don't need notation. Filming isn't allowed during shows because it is off putting to see people staring at screens during a show - for both the artist and the people sitting around the camera person.

You say that you have no time to talk, listen, email, respond, anything. You've sanctioned and profited from numerous TAB books, which we all bought and learned from, yet you say toss them, and that you have no idea if they are accurate.You are outspoken against dadgad in three youtube vids. You don't let anyone film or take pics during shows. we've all seen the youtube vid with you yelling at the audience. I can only wonder if Chet would be so conflicted and admittedly not have time for fans.

Shame to see him so against reading tabs and music. For the 99% of us without magic ears, please read standard notation AND tablature! It is a priceless skill to have, young students please, read music!
