@AnimalBlackmatism post 9/11, the empahsis seemed to switch from futurstic optomism to a kind of naziesque patriotism. Our more barbaric elemetns were celebrated and with that came entertainment which was designed to entertain the lowest common denomonator in society. Tv shows became reality shows in which we celebrated the debasement of other human beings / and or. celebrated how mindless and dumb some people are. thers your answer. And yes, racism is always a constant element.

@AnimalBlackmatism no, its not because your white. while racism does and did exist, i think why things were better int eh 80's was the genreal optomism people genreally had after the 60s and 70's. so many social changes occured in 20 years and we all saw this bright future where we could push and establish new boundaries. you can see in the art of the 80's tv shows and films, that alot of technological development was going on and people thought they were moving towards something.
