Censorship Senseless? 'Twitter always faster than govts'

Micro-blogging service Twitter has announced that it will filter tweets on a country-by-country basis due to differing legal demands. Critics were quick to accuse the company of attacking freedom of online speech to make extra profit. Aaron Schwartz, the founder and executive director of Demand Progress.org, an organization campaigning against Internet censorship, thinks the newly introduced measure will hardly achieve its goal of censoring Twitter.

so i was scrolling threw my facebook and came across a status "banks ruin lives". went to click like and ofc course a pop up came up saying "this status has been taken down or is unavailable". looked on the persons page, and its gone. censorship has hit facebook over the smallest things like that. damn bankers. ruining our lives

@ThatGuyCalledPhillip yeah, i'm not going to go sue twitter because they took my comments down. Because it's their right. On the other hand i would do so if my mouth was being shut by someone in a park. Yet i still retain the right to post w/e i want. It's just their right to take it down.... Their right, not the GOV'ments...

you can live very well without twitter, facebook and so on. shut down your account in sign of protest. there are private life data gathering tools anyway.
