Probably the worst ISP in the world

I have been with Tiscali for over 6 months now.

They suck, the support sucks, the speed really sucks.

I have had constant speed issues with them since sign up. I have had to endure speeds as low as 12KBs! Even though I am connected to ADSL Max, 8 meg broadband. I can download at 6.5megs in the morning before 8 am, a speed which drops dramatically throughout the day, to become totally unusable in the evening. Constant support calls are nothing short of farcical. I live less than 1 mile from the exchange. I know my stuff, and I know the problem is due to bandwidth management (crippling). I previously had 12 months full speed service with BT without incident. We only changed to save money, but it turnrd out to be the biggest mistake ever in the history of broadband.

I am a Microsoft Certified Network Engineer and I needed to vent.

SNR is usually in the high teens, over 10db is great for dsl max. IT ONLY HAS TO BE ABOVE 6 TO WORK!

I get 8megs in the morning and with BT I have always had 8megs.

Now I have threatend to take them to court its 8 megs except between 7 & 9 when it drops to 4.

dude your noise margin is too low it has to be higher for a 6meg connection

IT ONLY HAS TO BE ABOVE 6DB for ADSL MAX.

Above 10 is Great. remember 3 DB increase is logarithmic the SNR. so 12DB a hell of a lot better than 6DB though 6DB is still great!

I spent nearly 4 months on the phone arguing with tiscali as I could never get connected although i was 8mb unlimited i could barely get 2mb when i did get connected....finally got sick of them and switched to O2 on the 20mb package..and guess what? i get those 20mb perfectly now...and for the exact same price tiscali were charging!

Tiscali is such a crap ISP. Don't use it, switched from AOL and didn't really worry about internet speed until getting with Tiscali. They cap internet speed between peak hours. I can't even game now because speed is VERY BAD. 8mb? More like 0.2

signed a new deal with them after i told them i wasleaving they offered me a deal £19.99 a month free uk/usa 24/7 calls 12p daytime 7p eve/weekeds mobiles n the first two months free services blody crooks! my first month "free" bill was £47 n my second free bill £33 now i will go toi the eropean court of justice if i have to but they can go to hell am doing to see this through they should NOT be allowed to cheat people like this n get away with it that's criminal n its what they fucking are
