@Cocaineforthewest you obviously must see that based on your logic, what you propose will only perpetuate the cycle of violence, more US troops would be sent to combat the new threat and more innocent civilian lives would be lost. if you are trying to get them to leave, don't give them an excuse to stay.

I am taking Comparative Government in college. I learned about what things needed for modern democracy:
1) strong and independent bourgeoisie - the Soviets saw to it that Afghanistan has none
2) dissolving of peasant farmer class into other classes, like the proletariot; this class is ultra conservative, and will hold back the hands of time; an example of the results of them being active is Napoleon, Lenin, and the Taliban.

Democracy won't work in Middle Eastern countries because it doesn't just pop out like we were taught in school. Why is America a democracy? Is it because of three men named George, Ben, and Thomas? No. American constitutionalism has its roots in centuries of English customs. It was not spontaneous by any stretch.
