i think i would be correct in saying hergest ridge was not the most popular of Mikes music but don't forget it was following the massive Tubular Bells here i have put a piece of it to a few rail clips which seem to fit ok , what do you think .

  • I thought 'Hergest Ridge'was as good as 'Bells' ,I used to shoot up and play this album a lot.

Ommadawn was the big letdown (in my humble opinion)

  • hi Paul its the other way round with me Hergest ridge a massive disappointment coming on the back of Bells Ommadawn getting him in the right groove again anyway what do we know turned out his entire work was fantastic --trich .

  • It is as good as Ommadawn or Tubular Bells. Hergest Ridge is one of the most underrated Oldfield's works.

  • by the way, if anyone is feeling a little glum then you should go to hergerst ridge, and take this albumn with you. And in the solitute, listen to this music while looking at the countryside. That heals you big time.

thus, if anyone is feeling glum, to Hergerst rideg you shold come. Even better, go on horseback.

  • My favorite Oldfield album.

  • HUAU QUE DEMONIO DE ESPIRITU TIENES MIKE PARA CREAR ESTA MARAVILLA

  • @PAULLONDEN - Hergest is pretty mellow. I think side 1 is stronger than side 2. It was never going to match Tubular Bells which is a complete masterpiece. Ommadawn is a great LP. love the fast guitar solo near the end of side 1. I love mikes guitar sound from the 70's and mid 80's then he lost the agressive tone by TB2. Great musician though. Not many could write music like his first 4 Lps today!

  • bransons a tit,if he had released ommadawn right after tubular bells, just think how big mike oldfield would be now,.

  • hAVEN'T SEEN THE COMMENT WHERE IT SAYS THAT THIS SONG IS PLAYED REVERSE ! yES, LISTEN WELL ! aND NOW I WANT TO HEAR THIS REVERSE PLAYED SONG " REVERSE " ! sO THIS SHOULD GET US TO THE ORIGINAL TUNE ! =)

  • incredible music

  • I never grow tired of M.O. I listen to his albums most of the time and I have a lot of his albums.I think he is the greatest. Also I think Incantations Which was another of his

better albums.I did not like tube/bells at first but it grew on me and was hooked on his works.I mainly listen to his early music rather than the later works, but I would rather listen to him than anybody else

  • @trichoone snap! but this is so good. never got into H R album. though used to enjoy going there for walks because Mike named an album after it. (The dairy farm there does the best milk ever). Ps: did you make this video??? this is the most magicwhack I've got from youtube in ages! nice work! makes me want to give the album another go. i can see why i maybe didn't dig it as much as Ommadawn when I was a kid.

  • @trichoone I think all his first 3 albums were awesome. May fave was HR then Ommadawn, HR being my favourite album of all time by anyone.
