    Actually, Battiston was not "OK" after the NHL style hit. He had cracked ribs, damaged vertebrae, and lost two teeth. Schumacher should probably have been shown a red card (IMO anyway), as it appears there was some intent involved.

    i really dont think that it was worst incident in football history as so many people describe it to be. the only thing that stands against Schumacher here is that the ball was nowhere near. otherwise you can not expect keeper to stop in midway of run or not crash into opponent. its his game. just look on Kahn's style of play and many others. he was great because opponents were scared of them and thats what keeper's part of job is - to intimidate opponent in any way.
