  • You'll learn a lot more by watching pros hit backhands on Youtube. All this guy talks about is a 45^ angle - nothing in tennis is that specific and beginners don't need to concentrate on angles or specific measurements. They need to be shown the preparation and the contact point, with emphasis on the direction of the racquet edge to brush upwards imparting topspin. This coach, typical of Expert Village omits the essential information. Totally useless! Why don't they show a few balls being hit?

  • yeah but u ent going to play like federer when u start

  • If you don't get how to do something, experiment with the ball

  • First of all, he's showing how to push a ball, there's no hitting in that motion, you can't strike a ball that far out. Second, forget about that stupid angle thing, angle changes when you redirect balls. and third, the most important part, the foot work! Where the hell is that part about the foot work?! He hasn't move an inch to hit the ball, where's the proper foot work he's talking about?

  • What I dont like about these videos is that its all about the grip and they dont tell that. for example would you have to change grip to hit a backhand when you've just hit a forehand

  • i bet you are not good in that case ;)

  • there is no need to get sophistecated. tennis isnt suppossed to be like that.

  • and very likely ever.

  • that's how community colleges teach it though, I meant golf, theres just too much time to just practice, so they get into the nitty gritty which might annoy people.

  • No one starts playing like Mozart when taking piano lessons. The point is Federer's backhand is one of the best to copy and this coach should demonstrate hitting a few balls - just a static explanation doesn't really help much. He pushes his racquet forward on a horizontal plane and then the racquet face changes angle too soon to the right - he has no concept of topspin. The racquet should dip lower so that the top edge can accelerate upwards before swinging across the body. Useless coach!

  • he said way out... nope..it should be just a lil bit in front of u
