I have an Audio Technica AT440MLa installed on my SME 3009 Improved arm. It took a good 100 hrs to break it in. Very sensitive to VTA adjustments, have the arm perfectly level, sounds the best at this position. Tracking at 1.7 grams with the anti-skating set at 1 gram. Perfect match for this tonearm. Great cartridge for the money! Would like to upgrade to a Denon DL-301 II or a Audio Technica OC9MLII.

I purchased and installed an AT-440MLa on my Pioneer PL-518, in large part because of your informative review.
I'm absolutely blown away at the performance! Mistracking simply doesn't happen, surface noise is very low, bass is tight, midrange is good and high frequencies are balanced and un-distorted. I can now hear every little detail and nuance of a recording. Definitely worth the money!

haha unless you look like Jessica Alba lol
I'm still hoping to save together some money and buy a MC501 with a C2300 hopefully...fingers crossed! halfway there, but of course this is excluding an audiosource (esotericx-03SE) and speakers(focal 1037Be).............got some ways to go!
I am glad it worked for you. Thank you for reporting back.

Alberto, you were right about the "IGD" - I listen to a lot of 80's Rock and the Audio Technica AT440mla is a perfect match for my Pioneer PL-55X -thanks for taking the time to answer some of my concerns. Will post a video on this match. Again thanks!
