Geneva Overholser, a professor and director of USC Annenberg's School of Journalism, addresses the topic "What Matters to Me and Why" on Nov. 3, 2010.
From 1988 to 1995, Overholser was editor of "The Des Moines Register," where she led the paper to a Pulitzer Prize for public service. She has been ombudsman of "The Washington Post," a member of the editorial board of "The New York Times," a syndicated columnist for "The Washington Post" Writers Group, and a reporter for the "Colorado Springs Sun." She is also a contributor to Online Journalism Review, hosted by the Knight Digital Media Center, a partnership of USC Annenberg and the Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
"What Matters to Me and Why" bridges the separation between intellectual life and personal and spiritual issues by having featured USC faculty and administrators spend about 20 minutes addressing the topic "What Matters to Me and Why," followed by an informal dialogue rounding out the hour.
The program is sponsored by the USC Office of Religious Life and the USC Levan Institute for Humanities and Ethics.
