Samurai vs. Knight, Kendo vs. SCA. it's a classic fight pretty much never seen in history but that hasn't stopped it from being the hottest debated fight ever. who would win? watch and see.
Hiroshi has studied Kendo for several years
Tom/Ian has fought in the SCA for more than 18 years.

  • how can one sword beat a sword and shield? not even fair kniht just takes out sword with shield and swings

  • @gabeherrera3 this is a hard fight for the guy with one sword but it sure can be won. there are lots of trick that can be don to use the shield against the guy holding it and other things that can really mess him up you just have to be careful. it is a good question

  • I've been waiting to see a movie like this. Thank you for posting it!

  • thanks, you know this was a lot of fun and is actually how Hiroshi and I met and became friends. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope I get more opportunity to make more like this and the few others I have done.

  • @Ianflaer if thats you in the video then you dont have a chance in hell. either of you. you both suck. the guy with the shield(you?) i can see comming a mile away. it's like your moving in slow motion. i strike like a snake dude. you wont even see me. the other dude, what the fuck is he doing? hes not even fighting back!!!!!! sleeping with a shinai in his hand. i dont live in ny dude, i live in norfolk va. come see me cuz you havent yet. we can do it right on the beach.

  • @renzokata all you have to do is come over and we'll see about that. I'd be glad to show you what you are missing. New York is a long way off but I'm in the military and travel a lot. it wasn't that long ago I was in your neck of the woods. had I known we could have met up somewhere and had it out. I really think that after you cross sticks with me your attitude will change.

  • @Hunter1ryu sorry but if it was me, that guy with the sword and shield wouild have been owned b4 you know it.

  • @renzokata No no. Both are very good. It's just the Kendo user is stuck in a forward stance, and is only using his basic strike, as well as keeping firmly planted. the sheild man is getting in faster. It is more than possible to tear a shield up with Kendo, Kenjutsu and other bastard sword forms. the issue here is that the japo is fighting like he'd fighting another katana, or a duel wielder. He just needs a different angle is all.

  • @Ianflaer

I commented on another video already and will not do so again, but this rude individual is wrong. You guys are clearly having fun, and that totally does not suck. Most likely, said asshole sucks.

I am a little disappointed in the kendoka for not bringing more to the table here, but whatever. Looks like this was a blast. Keep posting these, I for one enjoy them.

  • @GOBRAGH2 Thank you for your kind comment! This movie is interesting as people would be interested in seeing how the Samurai swordsmanship would do against a Spartan, Viking, Mongol, etc I don't know if the Mongols used shields but I think they used small ones. (I'll look it up) Movies like this inspire me to try the Western swordsmanship as I already enjoyed learning Kendo for a short time. Movies like this inspire me to learn more about a try various types of swordsmanship :)

  • @Ianflaer Thank you for your kind comment. I'm sure since a movie like this has surfaced people would be interested to see a Kendoka vs a Spartan, Vikining, Mongol etc. Its interesting to see how the Eastern style can deal with a sword and shield style. I'm not sure if Samurai encountered shields when fighting the Mongols (as I will look it up), but this movie in particular sparked my interest in sword fighting and its history :)
