Easiest way to make a bootable USB Flash memory drive using any Windows PC (XP or later) so you can install Windows 7 on any other PC even if it has no DVD drive. You can download RMPrepUSB directly from http://www.rmprepusb.com

See also Tutorial #43 at www.rmprepusb.com for how to make a multi-boot USB Flash drive containing Windows Vista, 7 and Server 2K8 ISO files (64-bit and 32-bit). Just add the ISO file and a new menu entry for each ISO file!

The website also contains links to download a copy of Windows 7 ISOs.

Also works with Vista DVDs (but NOT XP CDs)
To boot from a USB drive on an Asus EeePC, press ESC repeatedly just before it boots from the hard disk and you will get a boot menu. Then select the USB drive.

  • i dont have windows 7 intallation dvd but i have iso file of windows 7, can i just mount it?is it getting work...

  • @neiljaca2010 Yes. See the website- third tab at the top!

  • @steve6375 I am using 2 USB drives and the vista 64 bit I downloaded requires two "Discs"(again I am using flash drives) How do I get it on the second flash drive? I used the CMD and moved the BOOTSECT.EXE /HT60 F: and it said that there is no file called that.

The only file on the second iso disk is a file called sources, can I just copy and paste them over to the USB?

  • @schizofreniceuphoria Yes, copy the /sources folder to the /sources folder on the USB drive and see if it works.

  • is it possible to put windows xp instead of seven if so will it work the same way ? same settings? what setting do i use if i want to use xp ?

  • @PedroBoss007 Please visit the rmprepusb website - seek and ye shall find...

  • @neiljaca2010 yes it gonna work with deamon tool

  • @steve6375 The first flash drive failed anyway so I could not even try it

Just gonna download Win8 CP and use that for now

  • No virus. Clean as a whistle! Works like a charm - took about 30 minutes all in, and then another 30 mins or so to install onto my old Netbook! Windows 7 Ultimate worked first time, installing ALL the required drivers! Perfect!
