Another piece of Hanford's skyline came down in February. Contractor Washington Closure Hanford pulled down the last of the water towers near Hanford's retired plutonium production reactors. The water tower near the D Reactor provided backup fire supression water. Workers are demolishing about 625 excess facilities near the Columbia River that once supported plutonium production during the Cold War.

  • not quite sure what that water tower did to anybody or anything in order for it to get pulled down like that...and then to hose it down like it was filled with gasoline?....hurtin... anyhow, Long Live The Tin Man Water towers.
