Little here survived.SOT: the recovery specialists are in there now, and they're not very optimistic that anything on the first floor is going to be saved. At one point Five feet of water rushed through here. [Notes:more shots inside the library] Even materials that were above the water line, were susceptible to mold and humidity damage. I was a library volunteer there for 10 years. How I loved that place.

Cedar Rapids is already well on it's way to rebuilding. I was a flood victim, and had a fully submerged basement and 3 feet of water on my main level. As soon as I was allowed back in my home, I was there cleaning, along with ALL of my neighbors. That's the difference between New Orleans and Iowa. I'm moving back home within the next couple of months. FEMA doesn't fix everything, residents do.

Cedar Rapids from my experience is agood city with good people. I feel bad for all of those who suffered from this flood. By the the way, I'm African-American. I don't can't related to the other poster angry direct toward Cedar Rapids. I met some good people there both black and white.
