In 1984, rebel independent television stations battled away at network affiliates to get a piece of the ratings pie. Little Rock's KLRT, Channel 16 (before Fox) was a national leader in breakthrough independent TV promotion. Channel 16 spoofed its own promos with the production of this spot for the George Pal-produced movie, "Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze" starring Ron Ely(TV's "Tarzan"). This spot, "Channel 16's :30 Theater" compacts the first half of the movie into 30 seconds.
