@ruberto53 His coat didn't dictate how he played the role. I don't think it's colour would have made any difference to his acting.

@lowcomedy I soo agree. John Nathan Turner came up with the idea for the gaudy coat. he wanted to wear black! Too bad someone does redeit these episode to turn them magically into Dr. who episode. How nest that would be.

Poor Colin was never allowed to be as good as he could have been. Apparently, the producer at the time had it in for him.

Poor Colin Baker. They did him wrong as Dr. Who. I read he wanted to wear black instead of that multicolored coat. I think we would've had a completely different Doctor if he'd had his way.

i have great memories of this as i was an extra in the garden party scenes.....great to be on screen with micheal wisher and nicola bryant will treasure this forever

The sixth doctor dvds have done a good job of showing that Colin didn't have very much control over how his doctor was done. The Twin dilemma dvd has a feature where Colin talks about the other doctor's costumes and someone digitally putting the doctor in a black suit that looked nice.
