The new family history from renowned Irish writer and film director Martin Duffy. Barney and Molly Duffy raised thirteen children up from the Dublin tenements. Their story is a fascinating map of the young Irish Republic, from Barney's involvement in the 1916 Easter Rising, through the "Emergency Years", deValera's Irish Free State and the Troubles, to the successes of new generations of the Duffy family into the 21st Century. From over fifteen years of research and interviews, this book offers a candid and utterly honest look at the characters that made modern Ireland.
Martin Duffy has directed three feature films, "The Boy from Mercury", "The Testimony of Taliesin Jones", and one film starring Elijah Wood and Janeanne Garofalo, "The Bumblebee Flies Anyway". He has also written several books for children. Currently he is in Galway, Ireland, directing a fourth feature-comedy about a UFO crash in that rural region in the late 1960's.
